How do you measure a steering column for replacement? (video)
Can you replace a steering column?
Usually, a steering column outlives the car. The only reason you would have to replace one is because someone tried to steal your ride, or you tried to install a steering wheel and busted something inside. Sometimes, wiring can catch fire or you break it trying to change the lock barrel. via
What size is the steering column?
The standard length is 3.25” and can be shortened to 1.5” upon request (a nominal custom charge will apply). Measure 3.25” (or custom length if applicable) from the bottom of the sleeve or shift hub and mark the dowel. Shortened cones may expose wiring. via
